WHY CALL Lake Sammamish HOME?
Lake Sammamish is a freshwater lake 8 miles east of Seattle. The lake spans 7 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, with a maximum depth of 105 feet. The lake stretches from Issaquah in the south thru Bellevue to Redmond in the north. Lake Sammamish is bordered by Marymoor Park at the lake's north end and Lake Sammamish State Park on the South end. Marymoor is King County's most popular park; more than 3 million people visit Marymoor annually to explore Marymoor's 640 acres of recreational activities, rare amenities, and culturally-enriching events. Marymoor features soccer, bicycling, baseball, or cricket and one of the best off-leash Dog Parks in the State. A very popular summer event is Marymoor Park's annual summer concert series at their top-rated 5,000-person concert venue, nestled in the Willowmoor Farm historical district near Clise Mansion.
The lake provides rearing and migratory habitat for many salmon species and a home for a variety of warm water fish, birds and other wildlife. As the sixth largest lake in Washington it is designated a natural resource of statewide significance by the Shoreline Management Act. Lake Sammamish State Park, which is a 512-acre day-use park with 6,858 feet of waterfront, is used by many visitors to fish as well as picnic and barbeque. Lake Sammamish also has a public boat launch located on the South-east tip of the lake. Many of the Lake Sammamish home owners enjoy the lake style living because of the luxury amenities the lake has to offer. Many homes have private docks, moorage, sandy beaches, and gorgeous cascade and Mt. Rainier views. Lake owners and visitors alike also have the opportunity to participate in such leisure water activities such as; rowing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, wake surfing, tubing, and jet skiing. There is a public slalom course for waterskiing at the far north end of the lake, running from the west to the east and even a Lake Sammamish Water-ski Club which host many yearly racing events. The Lake also has a private yacht club with organized moorage, sailboat races, youth classes, and fishing events.
The East Lake Sammamish Master Plan Trail (ELST) is an alternative non-motorized transportation corridor and multi-use recreational trail along 11 miles of former Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad corridor on the east side of Lake Sammamish, from Redmond to Issaquah. This type of paved trail has the highest degree of accessibility to people of all ages and abilities. The ELST is currently the 11-mile “missing link” in the 44-mile long regional trail corridor that will connect the Burke-Gilman Trail, the Sammamish River Trail, the Marymoor Connector Trail and the Issaquah-Preston Trail, linking Seattle to the Eastside and the Cascade foothills. The trail will provide greater access to recreation, employment and retail in the cities of Redmond, Sammamish, and Issaquah and provides a multi-use path for bicyclists, pedestrians, joggers, and skaters.
The area surrounding Lake Sammamish has been, in recent times, the most rapidly growing suburban district in the Greater Seattle Metropolitan Area. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, the cities of Redmond, Snoqualmie, Fall City, Issaquah and Bellevue have grown substantially. The town of Sammamish was incorporated in 1999 because of suburban growth. Lake Sammamish hosts many community events including an annual fun run as well as The Tasting' n Racing' festival on Lake Sammamish which features modern and vintage hydro's and personal watercrafts. Another popular event is the annual 4th of July fireworks show. Sponsored by John Kritsonis and Karl Lindor of Windermere Real Estate in conjunction with the Cadd Foundation.
